Behavior Analysis and Psychophysiology, Including Biofeedback & Neurofeedback

At Integrative Mind & Body Wellness, we support adolescents and adults with autism who want practical tools for everyday life, whether that means managing anxiety and overwhelm, handling transitions at school or work, or building more independence on their own terms.

Our work combines behavior analysis with psychophysiology. That means we look at both what you're doing and what your nervous system is doing, and we help you understand and work with both.

A Different Approach: Behavior Analysis Meets the Nervous System

Many teens and adults with autism have spent years being asked to change how they act, often without anyone asking what's happening underneath. We start from a different place.

Our goals are chosen collaboratively with you, not for you. We're not interested in changing who you are. We're interested in helping you feel more regulated, more capable, and more like yourself.

This approach includes:

  • Goals that reflect your priorities, reviewed together along the way

  • Real-time physiological feedback so you can see your stress and regulation patterns, not just guess at them

  • Understanding the "why" behind the patterns that get in your way

  • Practical strategies you can use at home, school, work, and in the community

  • Respect for the unique ways each person thinks, communicates, and experiences the world

What We Can Help With

Our services may support teens and adults with autism who are experiencing:

  • Anxiety, stress, and feeling constantly "on"

  • Sensory overload

  • Meltdowns, shutdowns, or burnout

  • Difficulty with transitions, changes, or unstructured time

  • Executive functioning challenges

  • Social fatigue or difficulty in relationships

  • Challenges at school, college, or work

  • Building independence and daily living skills

What Makes Our Approach Different

Most behavior-based programs focus on changing what others can see. Most biofeedback programs focus only on the body. We bring the two together.

We focus on:

  • Connecting behavior to what's happening in your nervous system

  • Using objective data you can see and understand

  • Building long-term regulation and self-understanding, not compliance

  • Respecting your autonomy, identity, and pace

  • Giving you tools that work outside the session, in real life

This leads to more meaningful, lasting progress, and more confidence in your ability to handle whatever comes next.

FAQs

Who do you work with?

We work with adolescents and adults with autism, typically ages 13 and up, including those sometimes described as "high-functioning" or as having lower support needs.

1

Is this ABA?

Our work is grounded in behavior analysis, but it looks different from traditional ABA. Goals are collaborative, we pay close attention to the nervous system, and we never use compliance-based methods.

2

What are biofeedback and neurofeedback?

3

Biofeedback uses sensors to show real-time information about your body, such as heart rate variability, so you can learn to influence it. Neurofeedback does the same with brainwave activity. Both are non-invasive and involve no medication.

Can parents or partners be involved?

Yes, as much or as little as you'd like. For teens, we typically include parents in planning and support.

4

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, for many services. Some, like neurofeedback, take place in our Castle Rock office.
